Fakhar Zaman, on a recent Friday, shared insights into the Pakistan cricket team’s confidence, asserting their ability to triumph over any opponent as they gear up for the second T20I against England at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.

Fakhar, a member of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad, believes that the team has the capability to defeat any team globally, with a clear mindset and each player understanding his role.

“Everything is set for the World Cup, people say a lot of things on the media,” Fakhar stated at a press conference. “Me and every player know about his role. We are strong enough to beat anyone in the world.

“As a team, we are clear in our mindset that we have to play attacking cricket and we know that only with this mindset, we have a chance [to win the World Cup]. If we are batting first [in any match], then we know we have to score 200 or more.”

He emphasized his commitment to contributing to the team’s success through an aggressive approach, regardless of his personal score, and mentioned the team’s strategic adjustments following a loss to Ireland.

“My role is to play aggressive and attacking cricket, whether I score 10 runs or a fifty, it should benefit the team. You will see in the World Cup that how much our mindset has changed,” he continued.

“After losing the first T20I against Ireland, we met and decided to make a new plan. Playing against a full-strength England side would be crucial before the World Cup.”

Fakhar also came to the defense of his colleague, wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan, in response to a journalist’s nepotism allegations.

Azam, the son of ex-Pakistani wicketkeeper Moin Khan, has faced nepotism accusations, which Fakhar refuted, advising the journalist to investigate thoroughly before critiquing Azam’s journey.

“I can also say that you have come here by recommendation, but it would be a good thing if you see how a player has come, how much struggle he has gone through. In my opinion, you should also come after doing a little research first,” Fakhar addressed the journalist.
