Pep Guardiola, after securing an unmatched fourth consecutive Premier League title with Manchester City on Sunday, suggested that he might be departing the club.

Following the 3-1 triumph over West Ham, Guardiola expressed that his departure from City is more likely than his continuation. However, he made it clear that he won’t be leaving the club he has been managing since 2016 right away.

“The reality is I am closer to leaving than staying,” the Spaniard informed Sky News.

“We have talked with the club – my feeling is that I want to stay now. I will stay next season and during the season we will talk. But eight or nine years – we will see.”

During a press conference, Guardiola confessed his exhaustion after guiding the team to their sixth championship in seven years but assured the supporters that he will remain at City until at least the conclusion of the next season.

“In terms of numbers, nobody has been better than us. The records, the goals, the points, the four in a row,” the Man City manager proclaimed.

“I said before, if you ask if you win six of the next seven Premier Leagues, I would say you are crazy. It is impossible.

“We have done something unbelievable.

“In this country with the amount of football, quality of managers and teams, the team surprised me. The organisation surprised me.

“Before was Liverpool to push us to our limits and now has been Arsenal. I want to congratulate them for an incredible season.

“They push us to our best.

“We competed incredibly well again and for little margin we won it. I am incredibly pleased.”

City’s attention will now be directed towards the final week of the season, leading up to Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester United. This is a repeat of last season’s inaugural all-Manchester cup final, where City secured a 2-1 win.
