The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is keen on bringing in the legendary West Indian batsman, Sir Vivian Richards, as a mentor for the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup to be held in the West Indies and the United States.

Inside sources from the PCB have disclosed ongoing talks with Richards. The board values his expertise and insights, particularly in light of the T20 World Cup’s West Indies segment. His successful stint as a mentor with the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has left a strong impression on them.

However, there’s an obstacle to navigate. Sir Vivian Richards has pre-existing media engagements during the World T20. Despite this impediment, the PCB is resolute in their pursuit of Richards’ mentorship. They are proactively seeking ways to resolve the scheduling conflict, underscoring their intense desire to have him guide the Pakistani team.

In the World Cup, 20 teams that have qualified are split into four groups of five. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Eight round.

At this juncture, the qualifying teams will be reorganized into two groups of four, from which the top two teams will progress to the semi-finals, and then the victors will compete in the final.

The semi-finals will be held on June 26 and 27 in Guyana and Trinidad, respectively, while the World Cup final is scheduled for June 29 in Barbados.

The West Indies venues comprise of Kensington Oval in Barbados, Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad, Providence Stadium in Guyana, Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua, Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in St Lucia, and Arnos Vale Stadium in St Vincent.

On the other hand, in the US, the matches will be hosted at three locations: Eisenhower Park in New York, Lauderhill in Florida, and Grand Prairie in Texas.
