FAISALABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has designated key roles to the mentors of the Champions Cup at various academies nationwide. These five mentors will oversee player development at high-performance centers in different cities across Pakistan.
According to PCB sources, Sarfaraz Ahmed will operate at the Karachi academy, Shoaib Malik will be based in Sialkot, and Waqar Younis has been assigned to the Lahore academy. Saqlain Mushtaq will take charge at the Multan academy, while Misbah-ul-Haq will oversee operations at the Faisalabad academy.
The mentors have been hired on lucrative contracts in anticipation of the Champions Cup, with plans for them to engage with the PCB beyond tournament periods, contributing to various cricketing activities throughout the year.
This development follows the conclusion of the domestic tournament, where the Panthers secured the inaugural title for the Champions One-Day Cup, defeating the Markhors by five wickets in the final held on Sunday at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.
