Naqvi urges quality and speed in National Stadium upgrades

KARACHI: Renovation work at Karachi’s National Stadium is in full swing as part of an extensive upgrade project in preparation for the Champions Trophy.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited the stadium on Wednesday to inspect the progress, focusing on the nearly completed steel-structured building.

Key improvements include the installation of advanced LED lights on poles for better visibility and plans for a laser light show to enhance the spectator experience. Elevated electronic screens are being positioned to ensure clear views for fans during matches.

The project also features upgraded parking facilities closer to the stadium for convenience, new enclosures, and a trench between the seating area and the ground to improve crowd management and security.

During his visit, Naqvi emphasized maintaining high-quality standards and completing the project on time. “We must match the speed of work with excellence,” he stated, urging all teams to focus on timely delivery.

The Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), leading the construction efforts, updated Naqvi on the progress. PCB’s Director of Infrastructure and the stadium manager were also present during the inspection.

These upgrades reflect PCB’s commitment to enhancing cricket infrastructure, ensuring Pakistan is well-prepared to host prestigious international tournaments.
