BCCI confirms inclusion of Pakistan’s name on India’s Champions Trophy Jersey
ISLAMABAD: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Wednesday that the national team’s jersey for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will display the tournament logo, which includes the host nation, Pakistan.
According to Indian media, a BCCI official assured that the board would comply with all International Cricket Council (ICC) guidelines, including the display of the official tournament branding on the jerseys.
The statement follows earlier reports suggesting that Team India might omit Pakistan’s name from the kit. On Tuesday, the ICC dismissed these claims, emphasizing that all teams are required to feature the tournament logo, including the host country’s name, as part of the standard regulations for ICC events.
An ICC official remarked, “It is the responsibility of every team to add the tournament logo to their jerseys. All teams are obligated to comply with this rule.”
In line with tradition, the name of the host nation is included on the kits of all participating teams to promote the event, even if some matches are held at neutral venues.
India is set to play all its matches in Dubai, while other games, including the final on March 9, will be hosted in Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi. If India qualifies for the final, the venue will shift to Dubai.
The Men in Blue are placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, beginning their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20.
