South Africa adds Shamsi and Ngidi to squad for tri-nation series
Cricket South Africa (CSA) has added left-arm spinner Tabraiz Shamsi and right-arm pacer Lungi Ngidi to their squad for the first match of the upcoming tri-nation ODI series in Pakistan.
The series kicks off today with Pakistan facing New Zealand in the opening match at the newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. South Africa will play their first match against New Zealand on February 10 at the same venue.
This tri-nation tournament is crucial for Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa as they gear up for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The final will be played on February 14 at the National Bank Stadium (NBS) in Karachi.
Initially, South Africa named an inexperienced 12-member squad, including six uncapped players. However, CSA strengthened their lineup by adding Shamsi and Ngidi for the match against New Zealand.
“Lungi Ngidi and Tabraiz Shamsi have been added to the squad for South Africa’s first match of the tri-nation ODI series against New Zealand on 10 February,” CSA announced.
Ngidi last played an ODI in October 2024 against Ireland, while Shamsi was part of the ODI series against Pakistan in December 2024.
