Tri-Nation Series: Haris Rauf to miss Pakistan’s next match Against South Africa
Pakistan’s fast bowler Haris Rauf is expected to be rested for the upcoming tri-nation series match against South Africa, scheduled to take place at National Bank Stadium Karachi on Wednesday.
According to sources, Rauf is in good health despite experiencing discomfort while bowling in the opening match against New Zealand. However, the team management is unwilling to take any risks with his fitness, considering the importance of the upcoming fixture.
The final decision regarding Rauf’s participation in the Pakistan-South Africa match will depend on his MRI results, sources added.
For context, the right-arm pacer had to leave the field during the 36th over of the series opener after bowling 6.2 overs due to fitness concerns. His absence was felt by the Men in Green as New Zealand capitalized on Pakistan’s weakened bowling attack, with Glenn Phillips scoring a remarkable century.
It is worth noting that Pakistan suffered a 78-run defeat in their opening game against New Zealand at Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.
Batting first, New Zealand posted a formidable total of 330/6, thanks to Phillips’ unbeaten ton, supported by fifties from Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell.
In response, Pakistan showed early promise with an opening partnership of 52 runs between Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam. However, they struggled to keep up with the required rate and were eventually bowled out for 252 in 47.5 overs. Fakhar Zaman was the standout performer with the bat.
