Pakistan surpassed Australia on Friday to move to third place in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) MRF ODI rankings.

The Kangaroos slipped to fourth place after losing by 26 runs to Sri Lanka in the second one-day international of the five-match series in Kandy.

Pakistan, led by Babar Azam, is now ranked third with 106 ratings, following New Zealand and England, who are ranked first and second with 125 and 124 ratings, respectively.

Previously, Pakistan had overtaken their arch-rivals India to secure the fourth rank after they clean swept West Indies 3-0 in the ODI series at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan thrashed West Indies by 53 runs to win the final ODI of the series, following wins by five wickets and 120 runs in the first and second ODIs, respectively.

Pakistan has benefitted immensely from their home series victory over the West Indies, as the team has climbed the ICC Super League rankings and is currently fourth in the points table.
