South African right-hand batsman Aiden Markram will not play in the remaining two Twenty20 internationals against India after testing positive for Covid at the beginning of the series.

Markram was quarantined for seven days, but he would not be able to play in the remaining two matches, according to Cricket South Africa.
“The player is healthy and well and has been cleared to return home to also look after his mental and emotional wellbeing after isolation in a local facility as required when an individual tests positive on tour,” the statement said.
This is the first series in India to be played without the bubble restrictions imposed during the coronavirus pandemic.
The tourists, captained by Temba Bavuma, lead the five-game series 2-1 after winning the first two matches.

Due to a wrist injury, wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock missed the second and third matches, although his recovery has “markedly improved.”

The fourth encounter between the two teams will take place on Friday in Rajkot.
