Pakistan women’s team skipper Bismah Maroof turns 31 today. She was born on July 18 1991, in Lahore. Her family was well-settled and wanted her to pursue education in the field of medicine. However, after entering high school, her passion for cricket became far deeper, and she left behind her studies to pursue the field of cricket. She entered the national side at the age of 15.

Pakistan Cricket Board wishes the all-rounder a happy birthday.

Bismah made his one-day internal debut against India on 13 December 2006. So far she has played 118 matches and scored 2891 runs at an average ofย  29.2. She made his T20I debut on 29 May 2009. She has amassed 2291 runs in 112 matches at an average of 27.6.

The left-hand all-rounder became the first player in the national women’s team to score 1000 runs. She is currently the leading run scorer for the team in both ODIs.

She is also the first player to have scored the most runs in ODIs without scoring a century. She is also the only one in the team to have been dismissed for 99 runs in her career. She took 88 international wickets.

Bismah Maroof has also represented Spirit Women and Asia Women XI along with the national side.

She earned two gold medals at the Asian Games in 2010 and 2014.
