Auston Matthews, of the Toronto Maple Leafs, was voted the NHL’s Most Valuable Player on Tuesday, taking home the renowned Hart Trophy for his phenomenal goal-scoring season.

Matthews also won the Ted Lindsay Award as the NHL Players Association’s most outstanding player on Tuesday.
Matthews led the NHL with 60 goals during his 60-goal season, for which he received two trophies.

Matthews has scored at least 34 goals in each of his six seasons in the league and led the league in scoring in both 2021 and 2022.
“I want to thank the Toronto Maple Leafs, top to bottom,” Matthews said after receiving the MVP.
“I want to thank the fans, Leafs Nation, there is nothing like playing in front of you.”
Matthews defeated Connor McDavid of Edmonton and Igor Shesterkin of the New York Rangers to win the Hart Trophy.
Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche was awarded the Norris Trophy as the best defenseman on Tuesday.
Makar was important in Colorado’s regular-season Western Conference championship with 28 goals.
Game four of the Stanley Cup finals between the Avalanche and the Tampa Bay Lightning is scheduled for Wednesday.

Moritz Seider of the Detroit Red Wings earned the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s rookie of the year.
The 21-year-old rookie defenseman led rookies in assists (43) and points (50) for the whole season.
Shesterkin, meanwhile, earned the Vezina Trophy as the best goaltender, besting Calgary’s Jacob Markstrom and Nashville’s Juuse Saros, a Finnish goaltender.
