Kieron Pollard, West Indies all-rounder, announced his retirement from international cricket on social media on Wednesday.

Pollard, who captained the West Indies’ limited-overs teams, played in a total of 123 One-Day Internationals and 101 Twenty-One-Day Internationals.

He has been a key member of the Mumbai Indians club in the Indian Premier League for numerous years, and the franchise decided to keep him ahead of the blockbuster auction in February.

Pollard revealed his decision to retire in a video message posted to his Instagram account.

He was a part of the West Indies side that won ICC WT20 in 2012, however, he missed out on his second T20 World Cup victory in 2016 due to injuries.

Pollard, 34, made his ODI debut in 2007 and played his final series against India.

“Hello everyone, after much thought, I have chosen to retire from international cricket. Since I was a 10-year-old youngster, I’ve wanted to play for the West Indies, and I’m pleased to have represented them in T20 and ODI formats for over 15 years”, Pollard made the announcement on his official Instagram account.

While he is regarded as one of the best T20 cricketers in the world, his records for the West Indies remain unimpressive, with only 2706 runs at just over 26 and 55 wickets from 123 ODIs, as well as 1569 runs at just over 25 from 101 T20Is.

He also had 44 wickets to his name.

While hitting six sixes to Akila Dananjaya in a T20I would be the peak of his international career. He never played in a Test match.
