As per the proposed schedule, the tournament is set to take place in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi from February 19 to March 9.
Lahore is slated to host seven matches, including the final. The National Stadium in Karachi will be the venue for the opening match and a semi-final, with a total of three matches scheduled in Karachi. Rawalpindi is set to host five matches, including a semi-final.
The tournament will comprise a total of 15 matches, with India scheduled to play all their matches in Lahore.
Sources indicate that modern corporate boxes will replace the PCB headquarters at Gaddafi Stadium, but the entire building will not be demolished. The recently constructed dressing rooms will remain intact. The spectator capacity in the Fazal Mahmood and Imran Khan Enclosure will be expanded and will be further elevated from behind the existing structure.
New digital screens are planned to be installed at Lahore, Karachi, and Pindi Stadium. The condition of the building at Karachi’s National Stadium will be improved, and a new media centre will be constructed at the University End, complete with a scoreboard.
This event will mark the comeback of the ICC Champions Trophy after an eight-year break, with the last tournament taking place in 2017, where Pakistan triumphed over India in the final.
The teams confirmed for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy include Pakistan (hosts), India, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Afghanistan, England, and Bangladesh.
Last month, Rajeev Shukla, the vice-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), spoke about the Indian team’s tour of Pakistan for the Champions Trophy next year.
In a conversation with ANI, Shukla stated that the BCCI will adhere to the directives of the federal government regarding sending the Indian team to Pakistan.
“In the case of the Champion Trophy, we will do whatever the Government of India will tell us to do. We send our team only when the Government of India gives us permission. So, we will go according to the decision of the Indian government,” Shukla said.
