Sunday’s triumph over Casper Ruud at Roland Garros secured Nadal’s 22nd Grand Slam title. The 36-year-old revealed his foot was “asleep” after receiving injections.
Rafael Nadal subsequently traveled to Barcelona to undergo “pulsed radiofrequency stimulation” treatment, which aims to reduce nerve discomfort, according to the tennis player’s spokesman on Wednesday.
The therapy will temporarily numb the nerves surrounding Nadal’s injured area.
“Rafa is already at home and will spend three or four days doing normal, maintaining physical activity. Depending on the effect of the treatment, and as long as it’s positive, he will later return to training on the court,” the spokesman said.
“We don’t rule out a second treatment being carried out in the next week.”

Nadal has struggled for years with Muller-Weiss syndrome, a rare and degenerative ailment that affects the bones of the feet.
“I will be there if my body allows it. Wimbledon is a priority, the Grand Slams are a priority,” Nadal said on Sunday when asked about Wimbledon.
“Playing it with anti-inflammatories, yes; with anesthesia injections, no.”
