UAE announces to send Moon Mission in 2024

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is sending an unmanned spacecraft to the moon in 2024.

According to the details, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai announced that the country will be sending its moon mission in 2024.

Sheikh Mohammed said, “It will be an Emirati-made lunar rover that will land on the surface of the moon in 2024 in areas that have not been explored previously by human missions.”

He did not elaborate on the location that the UAE planned to explore, nor how they would launch the rover into space.

The rule of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed said the rover would be named “Rashid,” the same name of his late father, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

If the mission gets successful, then the UAE will be the fourth country in the world after the US, the Soviet Union and China to participate in the moon exploration missions and the first in the Arab world.

The Rover will send data and images for the first time on new lunar regions that will be shared with all research centres locally and internationally.

Sheikh Mohammed said the rover would be named “Rashid,” the same name of his late father, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
