Tecno Phantom X2 Series Launched: Retractable Camera, Curved Display

The Tecno Phantom X2 series was officially unveiled today, as planned. There are two models in the line-up: the Tecno Phantom X2 and the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro. These are the brand’s first smartphones that are truly high-end flagship models.

Almost everything about the two is the same. The only difference between the phones is their cameras. Let’s look at all the things they have to offer.

Tecno Phantom X2 Series Specifications

The Tecno Phantom X2 series sport a unique design. The big camera island in the middle of the back of these phones makes them easy to spot. The pro model is different from the regular model because one of its cameras has a coloured ring around it.

The devices have a 6.8-inch curved AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate, and 20:9 aspect ratio. The 10-bit panel can show all of the colours in the DCI-P3 colour gamut, has a hole in the middle, and is made of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus to protect it.

MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset is what makes the phones work. The SoC works with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It is cooled by a vapour chamber. On the software side, they run Android 12 based HiOS 12.0.

The phones have many ways to connect, like dual SIM, 5G, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.3, GNSS, NFC, and USB 2.0. (Type-C). In an interesting twist, they don’t have dual stereo speakers, but they do have a fingerprint sensor built into the screen.

The main feature of the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro is that it has a 50MP Samsung JN1 portrait camera that can be pulled out and has a 2.5x zoom and an f/1.49 aperture lens. This camera has a 50MP Samsung GNV main camera and a 13MP Samsung 3L6 ultra-wide camera that supports macro vision.

Auto-focus is available on all three cameras. None of them have OIS, though.

On the other hand, the Tecno Phantom X2 has a 64MP Samsung GWB main camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), the same 13MP ultrawide camera with macro vision as the pro model, and a 2MP depth sensor.

Both phones have a 32-megapixel front-facing camera and a 5,160mAh battery. Last but not least, they support 45W fast charging over a wired connection.

On the other hand, the Tecno Phantom X2 has a 64MP Samsung GWB main camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), the same 13MP ultrawide camera with macro vision as the pro model, and a 2MP depth sensor.

Both phones have a 32-megapixel front-facing camera and a 5,160mAh battery. Last but not least, they support 45W fast charging over a wired connection.

In Saudi Arabia, the Tecno Phantom X2 series will be sold for the following prices.
