WhatsApp allows you to share photos in various resolution settings, but it does not enable original-quality uploads. That will soon change with an update, as the feature is already available in WhatsApp’s most recent beta version.

For image uploads, you may currently choose between “data saver,” “automatic,” and “best quality,” but the best quality option does not allow you to share photographs in full resolution. Simply put, it compresses the image slightly less than the other alternatives.

However, full-quality image uploads are now available as part of a recent WhatsApp beta upgrade (version 2.23.2.11). WABetaInfo, as usual, spotted the feature.

The screenshot below demonstrates how to use the functionality in the beta version. That being said, it is worth noting that it is possible that some changes will be made before it is included in the stable version of WhatsApp.

As shown in the screenshot, selecting an image from your gallery brings up a new cogwheel option at the top. This allows you to choose between various photo quality options, including original image uploads.

With all of their megapixels, you’ll finally be able to show off your photographic skills or hilarious pet images.

It is important to note that uploading photographs at their original quality will consume more internet traffic, thus it is best to utilize this option solely on Wi-Fi connections if you have mobile internet constraints.

WhatsApp should include the ability to choose between Wi-Fi and mobile internet connections for original-quality uploads.

Because the function is still in development, it is uncertain when it will be available to the general public.
