WhatsApp is rolling out a new upgrade for group participants that replaces unknown phone numbers in the chat list with user names.
Users will be able to see names instead of phone numbers with the new update if they get a message from an unknown contact in a WhatsApp group.
In December of last year, WhatsApp began launching a new feature that replaced phone numbers with push names within group chat message bubbles.
In the group chat window, the feature made it easier for users to distinguish messages from unknown connections.
According to WAbetainfp, WhatsApp is now extending this capability to its chat list as well, so users can see who sent them messages in the group chat.
The new upgrade will make it easier for recipients to identify an unknown contact without having to save the phone number in their contact list. Especially in larger groups where saving every interaction is challenging,
The new conversation list update is currently being sent out for WhatsApp beta for Android users with the newest WhatsApp 2.23.5.12 version and for iOS beta with the latest WhatsApp 23.5.0.73 upgrade. Following testing, the feature will be made available to everyone in future app updates.
