Elon Musk shared a short video of the company’s latest creation, the Optimus Gen 2 robot. Captioned “Going for a walk with Optimus,” the 15-second clip showcased the life-size humanoid walking in a room, drawing both excitement and concerns from viewers.

Many fans expressed delight in the robot’s natural-looking gait and applauded Musk for the updates. Some enthusiasts eagerly noted the improvements, while others playfully compared the robot’s walk to President Joe Biden’s.

However, not all reactions were positive. Some viewers raised concerns about the potential consequences of advanced humanoid robots, referencing scenes from movies like Terminator and I, Robot. One particularly alarmed comment humorously suggested, “Kill it with fire,” gaining significant attention with 199 likes.

Tesla introduced the Optimus Gen 2 robot in December 2023, standing at 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 121 lbs. Musk envisions these humanoid bots taking over repetitive and tedious tasks, eventually becoming companions for humans. During an interview on the Lex Fridman podcast, Musk shared his vision for the robots to develop unique personalities that evolve over time, making them more relatable to their owners.

Tesla first introduced the concept of its humanoid robot in 2021 and unveiled the prototype in 2022. While Musk previously mentioned a price tag of no more than $20,000, the exact cost remains undisclosed.

With Musk’s ambitious goals for humanoid robots, the unveiling has sparked a diverse range of reactions, from enthusiasm for technological advancements to humorous apprehensions about the potential future depicted in science fiction.
