Apple is set to introduce its highly anticipated generative AI platform, Apple Intelligence, next week. The public rollout will coincide with the release of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1. While the exact date hasn’t been confirmed, most sources expect the updates to be available by Monday.
Apple Intelligence has already been available to developers testing beta versions of the operating systems, providing access to features like writing assistants, image enhancement, article summaries, and an improved Siri experience with AI typing input.
With next week’s release, the public will also gain access to new AI-driven features, including Genmoji, Image Playground, Visual Intelligence, Image Wand, and integration with ChatGPT.
However, only select devices will support Apple Intelligence due to hardware requirements. Compatible devices include the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, all iPhone 16 models, iPads with A17 Pro chips or M1 and later, and Macs with M1 chips or newer.
To access Apple Intelligence, users will need to install the software update and opt-in via Settings or during the setup process. Apple will then place users on a brief waitlist, expected to process most requests within hours, as some AI tasks require off-device processing.
