Microsoft has introduced a new feature aimed at improving file sharing between iPhones and Windows PCs, addressing the frustrations users have faced due to compatibility issues.
The feature is currently available in the beta version of the Phone Link app, designed to provide a smoother data-sharing experience for iPhone users with Windows PCs.
Phone Link is an application that allows users to connect their iOS or Android devices to their Windows computers, providing easy access to notifications, call management, and now, file sharing.
In a recent blog post, Microsoft outlined how the new feature works, enabling Windows users to select their iPhone as an option for file sharing. The link to Windows application appears as a sharing extension on the iPhone.
To share files from an iPhone to a Windows PC, users can follow these steps:
- Choose the file(s) to share.
- Tap the “share” icon.
- Select “Link to Windows.”
- Tap the device to which you wish to share the file.
To send files from a PC to an iPhone, users can:
- Select the file(s) they wish to share on their computer.
- Right-click and choose “Share.”
- Select “My Phone.”
This feature is currently available only to members of the Windows Insider Program and requires an iPhone running iOS 16 or later, along with Link to Windows app version 1.24112.73 or later.
