Have you ever overlooked unread messages on WhatsApp, intending to check them later but forgetting? This issue is set to be resolved with WhatsApp’s latest update, introducing a reminder notification feature for users.
Currently available for beta testers using the latest WhatsApp beta version for Android 2.24.25.29 via the Google Play Store, this feature is expected to be included in a future public update, as reported by WABetaInfo.
The new functionality, which initially applied only to status updates, now enables WhatsApp to send reminders about unread messages from selected contacts. These contacts are chosen automatically by an internal algorithm based on the user’s most frequent interactions.
However, this algorithm operates solely within the current installation of WhatsApp. If the app is reinstalled, interactions must be reassessed, as this data is neither backed up nor stored on servers.
For instance, if a user often communicates with a specific contact but leaves one of their messages unread, WhatsApp may issue a reminder to address the pending message.
To prevent notification overload, WhatsApp has designed this feature with a careful balance, ensuring reminders are relevant and unobtrusive.
While this feature is currently available to beta testers, it will soon be rolled out to a broader user base, offering a thoughtful solution to managing unread messages efficiently.
