WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature called Advanced Chat Privacy to give users more control over how their messages and media are managed in private and group chats.

This update, which was recently leaked before its official release, allows users to prevent others from exporting chats, stops media from being automatically downloaded to others’ devices, and limits the use of messages in AI-related features within WhatsApp. However, it currently does not block screenshots, which WhatsApp acknowledges and may address later.

This feature is particularly useful for group chats where people might not personally know each other, such as in health forums or community groups. Advanced Chat Privacy helps users secure their sent messages more effectively.

To use it, users must manually enable the feature in each chat by opening the conversation, tapping on the chat name, and selecting the Advanced Chat Privacy option in the settings. It is not automatically applied to all chats, meaning users need to activate it separately for each conversation.

WhatsApp has made it clear that this is just the first version of the tool, and they plan to introduce more improvements and stronger privacy options in future updates to make conversations even safer for users.
