The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office Gilgit and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Gilgit jointly conducted targeted raids to stop illegal IMEI tampering and the sale of cloned mobile devices.

Officials raided Amin Mobile Repair Shops in Aliabad Bazaar, Hunza, and seized laptops and specialized software used for IMEI modification. They arrested one person on the spot, and NCCIA Gilgit took him into custody for further legal action.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) enforces a zero-tolerance policy against illegally modifying mobile device identifiers. IMEI tampering and the sale of cloned phones pose serious threats to national security and public safety by enabling criminal anonymity, cybercrime, financial fraud, abductions, and other offenses.

PTA urges the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity involving mobile phone cloning or tampering. The authority is strengthening regulatory actions and will ensure violators face strict legal consequences.
