To celebrate the victory of Joe Biden for becoming the 46th President of the United States of America on Saturday, the Democrat supporters finished all the alcohol in the capital Washington as many stores ran out of stock.
It felt like many of the Americans were ready before to celebrate Biden’s victory.
According to the details, Calvert and Woodley, known around the world for its selection of wines, sold up to 75% more wine bottles than a usual Saturday.
Its store salesman Mark said,
“People want to celebrate.”
His colleague Janis said, “I bought 20 for myself.”
Juanita, dressed in a Biden-Harris t-shirt and with a Biden-Harris sign in her hand, was one of the many customers in search of the bubbly.
“I´m so happy. It´s an amazing day for democracy,” she said while choosing a bottle.
On the other hand, shelves were emptied quickly and employees had to grab reserve cases of champagne at the Magruder´s, a wine shop in the residential district of Chevy Chase in business since 1845.
“People buy two or three bottles. It´s very unusual,” said a cashier. “People are so happy today.”
