Missing Madeleine McCann’s parents are still hoping she is alive, despite the fact that a new official suspect has been named.
Kate and Gerry McCann have reacted to news that a German man has been named as a formal suspect in the disappearance of Kate McCann from Praia da Luz in May 2007.
“Even if the chances are small, we have not given up hope that Madeleine is still alive and that we will be reunited with her,” they stated.
Christian Brueckner, also known as Christian B in Germany, is now an official suspect, or “arguido,” but has not been charged with anything.
“We appreciate the news that the Portuguese police have proclaimed a German man a ‘arguido’ in relation to the disappearance of our precious daughter Madeleine,” the parents write in a lengthy statement signed “Kate & Gerry.”
“This demonstrates the progress made by the Portuguese, German, and British authorities in their inquiry.” The Metropolitan Police keeps us up to date on developments.
“It’s worth noting that the ‘arguido’ has yet to be charged with any specific crime in connection with Madeleine’s disappearance.
“Even though the possibility may be slim, we have not given up hope that Madeleine is still alive and we will be reunited with her.”
