United States: A Florida guy was nabbed last week after robbing a Chase Bank in Des Moines, Iowa, only to carjack the Uber driver who took him there.

Javier Rafael Camacho-Cepeda, 22, of Florida, was apprehended by authorities in Lake County, Minnesota, at 6 p.m. Wednesday (local time), just two hours from the US-Canada border, according to police.

After the robbery, Javier allegedly drew a revolver on the Uber driver who transported him to the Des Moines bank. The suspect is then reported to have stolen the vehicle and driven north on Interstate 35.

Authorities claimed the fact that he booked the Uber in the first place provided crucial evidence that helped them track him down.

“We were able to gather some information at the bank and then couple that with some information from the Uber driver to figure out very quickly who our suspect was,” Des Moines Police Department sergeant Paul Parizek told a local TV station.

“We’ve got some technology resources available to us and then just some good investigative skills and they were able to determine he was heading to the US-Canadian border,” the officer explained.

The Uber driver stated he didn’t realise there had been a robbery at Chase Bank until police started looking into it.

Javier has been charged with two charges of robbery in the first degree. However, the amount of money robbed from the bank is known.
