The 45th President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has called for a drug test for himself and his democratic opponent and former Vice President Joe Biden, ahead of the Democratic TV debates.

This happened after President Trump said that he had noticed a sudden improvement in Joe Biden’s performance in the debates.

The president offered no actual evidence to support any reason to have the drug test other than to say that “I’m pretty good at this stuff.” Biden and Trump are to go head to head in 3 debates before the election.

Back in 2016 Trump had made similar claims about then opponent Hilary Clinton stating that she had been “getting pumped up” before the debates. He had also challenged her to a drug test ahead of their final live TV encounter.

Trump ironically stated that the former VP “wasn’t even coherent” during some of the 11 live debates he competed in. He claimed that Mr. Biden’s ability had improved suspiciously in the last debate that he was on.

“I don’t know how he [Mr. Biden] could have been so incompetent in his debate performances and then all of a sudden be OK against Bernie.” Said the President talking about VP Biden’s last performance against fellow Democrat Bernie Sanders.

Trump followed up by stating that “It wasn’t that he was Winston Churchill because he wasn’t, but it was a normal, boring debate. You know, nothing amazing happened. And we are going to call for a drug test because there’s no way – you can’t do that.”

The three presidential debates are set to take place in Cleveland Ohio, on the 29th of September, Miami, Florida, on 15th October and Nashville Tennessee on the 22nd of October. Trump asked for additional debates but that request was denied by the Commission on Presidential Debates. Trump had also asked for the first debate to be held earlier however that request was also denied.
