Facebook, the world’s largest social networking site, has announced it will not run ads for social, political, or election-winning claims during the next October’s US presidential election.
According to the details, Facebook announced that it would not publish advertisements during the US election after criticism of US President Donald Trump.
A day earlier, during a presidential debate, Donald Trump had expressed concern about advertising on Facebook, saying that advertising on the website could harm the election.
Following Donald Trump’s criticism, the Facebook administration made it clear that all political and social advertising bookings would be closed a week before the presidential election.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, however, announced in early September that his website would not run ads during the US election 2020.
Mark Zuckerberg stated in a lengthy post that his website would not accept any political, social, or election-affecting advertisements from the night of October 27 to the night of November 3, 2020.
Mark Zuckerberg had said that his administration was concerned about advertisements affecting the election.
Facebook has been accused in the past of publishing advertisements that influenced the US election, and during the 2016 election, it was accused of publishing advertisements that helped Donald Trump win.

Although Facebook initially denied the allegations, Facebook later admitted that it had received advertisements from some Russian entities during the 2016 US election, which may have influenced the US presidential election.
