Several parts of Karachi on Wednesday afternoon received light rain.

According to the details, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Karachi, SITE Industrial Area, University Road,  I.I Chundrigar Road, Guru Mandir and other areas received light to moderate rain.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast another wave of heavy rainfall in Karachi on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted light to moderate rain in Karachi today.

This is the third spell of rain to hit the city this monsoon season. But the department says it won’t be as intense as the last two spells.

It hasn’t predicted a storm and says the city is likely to receive 10 to 15mm of rain. In comparison, over 200.6mm was recorded in Surjani Town during the last spell before Eidul Azha.

According to the Met department’s advisory, the system is heading North West and coming in from Northern Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh in India.

It will also hit Mirpurkhas, Thatta and Hyderabad where rain is expected to continue till Friday.

A monsoon low over northwest Odisha (India) has moved towards the central parts of Madhya Pradesh and is likely to reach north Rajasthan on Tuesday.

Yesterday, Director Meteorological Department Karachi Shahid Abbas said that under the influence of the this relatively weak monsoon system, light to moderate rain is expected in Karachi from Wednesday night till Thursday evening or maximum by Friday morning.

He further told that this is a weaker system as compared to the previous two systems, so we are not expecting any heavy rain through this spell.

An advisory issued on the PMD website also said rains/thundershower with isolated heavy falls were expected at scattered places in Mirpurkhas, Thatta, Hyderabad, Karachi, Shaheed Benazirabad divisions from Tuesday night to Thursday, and at isolated places in Sukkur, Larkana, DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Zhob, Sibbi and Kalat divisions during the period.

The department has advised all authorities concerned to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures during the forecast period.
