Thick blankets of fog engulfed various cities in the Punjab province on Friday. The met department has predicted the weather to remain cold and dry and different parts of the country.

According to the details, the department said that rainfall and snowfall are expected at some places in Kashmir and adjoining mountainous areas.

A severe cold wave entered the plains of Punjab. Due to severe fog in many areas, the threshold has been reduced and the motorway has also been closed in several places.

The Meteorological Department has predicted fog at night and early morning in some parts of Punjab and upper Sindh for the next 24 hours.

Severe fog has affected the flow of traffic to major highways in Chichawatni, Renala Khurd, Pakpattan, Arifwala, Sahiwal, Okara, Patoki, Dijkot and Sharaqpur Sharif.

The Punjab Motorway Police has prevented the public from making unnecessary movements on roads,   while the drivers are also advised to keep the speed of the vehicle low and use fog lights.

They have been further instructed to contact the Motorway police at 130 to get updates about the foggy conditions.

Lahore and other parts of Punjab facing environmental problems including smog, deteriorating air quality and other climate woes disturbing normal life.

A westerly wave was affecting Kashmir and its adjoining areas resulting in light rain and thunderstorm at isolated places in Kashmir and its adjoining hilly areas.

The Meteorological Department says that the weather will remain dry in Balochistan, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan today.
