Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Karachi on Wednesday (today) under a system present in the south-east of the city.

Chief meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz has notified that the effects of the system are likely to start fading tonight.

He also predicted that the next spell is likely to hit Karachi from the mid of July.

Light rain occurred in different areas on Tuesday. The highest heavy rainfall recorded was 2 millimeters in Landhi.

The Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) has imposed an emergency in wake of the ongoing spell of monsoon rain.

According to details, the board’s Managing Director Kashif Gulzar Shaikh has asked Chinese contractors to handle the necessary arrangements. Also, employees were asked to arrange staff for the drainage of rainwater in East, South, and Malir districts.

Sheikh surveyed districts South and West the Gondpas Landfill Site along with SSWMB Executive Operations Director Tariq Nizamani to see cleaning and sewerage conditions in the city.

Authorities have also directed local contractors in Central, Korangi, and West district to complete garbage collection. The same instructions were given to the district councils.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan senior deputy convener Aamir Khan and other members of the Rabita Committee held a press conference and criticized K Electric.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, MQM Pakistan leader Aamir Khan said that the citizens of Karachi have been suffering from load shedding for the last several months and K Electric is collecting billions of rupees through over-billing.

Hot and Humid weather is expected in most parts of the country during day time on Wednesday. However, Rain/wind-thundershowers is expected in lower Sindh, Potohar region, North east Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and adjoining areas.

A low pressure area is present near coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan. Weak Monsoon currents are penetrating northeastern parts of the country.

Mainly Hot and Humid weather is expected in most central and southern parts of the country on Thursday. However, Rain/wind-thundershowers is expected in Upper Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Rain/wind-thundershower occurred in Karachi, Upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad in the last 24 hours. Weather remained hot & humid in other parts of the country.
