The traffic police have directed the locals to avoid unnecessary travel. Officials of the Motorway Police have advised commuters to check with the Motorway Police before travelling.

These include M-1 from Peshawar to Rashakai, M-2 from Kot Sarwar Interchange to Lahore, M-3 from Lahore to Abdul Hakeem and M-4 from Pindi Bhattian to Khanewal.

Visibility on the national highway was just at 30 metres. The Lahore to Islamabad M2 Motorway has been closed till Hafizabad.

Lahore, Thokar, Chohang, Mohlanwa, Jambar, Phoolnagar, Pitoki, Okara, Sahiwal, Chichawatni, Mian Channu and Khanewal.

At least eight people have lost their lives in different road accidents, due to extreme fog.

It is pertinent to mention here that Air Quality Index crossed the hazardous level in Lahore last month on 22, private schools in Lahore, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad were also closed.

The purpose of the above Index  is to report air pollution and if it is producing hazardous results.

If the rank of air quality index increases to 150, it is unhealthy; if it increases from 200, it becomes a very unhealthy environment.

The smog, in recent years, has become a serious problem in various cities, industrial and transport pollution to be one of its main causes.

Due to bad weather conditions, citizens are being forced to take protective measures. People are facing haziness, nose and eye irritation as common issues these days. respiratory diseases are being spread due to smog.

Health experts have advised people, especially children and the elderly, to remain indoors and not to go out unnecessarily.
