PMD issues alert for new spell of rain in Pakistan

Rain and thunderstorm hits isolated places in districts of north Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and Islamabad here on Saturday.

Rainfall in Rawalpindi and Islamabad has intensified the cold weather.

According to National Weather Forecasting Center here, dense fog prevailed in most plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning hours.

During past 24 hour, Rain and thunderstorm occurred at scattered places in districts of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Malakand, Hazara, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir while at isolated places in Nagarparkar, Thatta, Dadu, Sh. Banzirabad, Quetta, Zhob, Khuzdar. Snowfall also occurred in Malamjabba, Murree, Astore, Skardu and Bagrote.

Snowfall (Inch): Malamjabba 11, Murree 05, Astore 03, Skardu 02, Bagrote 01.

Lowest Minimum Temperatures recorded in Bagrote -05C, Parachinar, Gupis -04C, Malamjabba, Astore, Astore, Kalam -03C, Hunza -02C, Chitral and Murree -01C.

According to synoptic situation, a westerly wave is affecting most upper parts of the country and will move northeasterly direction during next 24 to 36 hours.

Earlier on Thursday, The weather in Karachi turned chilly after light rain was reported in many areas on early morning.

Karachiites had enjoyed the weather as they woke up to cloudy skies as well as drizzle that morning.

The drizzle was witnessed in multiple areas of the port city, including I.I. Chundrigar Road, Saddar, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Korangi, Nazimabad, SITE Area, Liaquatabad and other adjoining areas.

The Meteorological Department (Met) said and predicted cloudy weather with intermittent drizzle and light rain on Thursday morning.

They said the minimum temperature could drop a couple of Celsius degrees in the city after rain and snowfall in upper parts of the country.
