Cold wave continued to grip most parts of the country with icy winds shivering Skardu at -18°C.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department, continental air prevails most parts of the country, specially Skardu.

A shallow westerly wave is likely to affect western and upper parts of the country from Wednesday, MeT office said.

Light rain with thunderstorm and snowfall over mountains expected at isolated places in Northwest Baluchistan, upper hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Dense fog is likely to prevail in most plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh while in few plain areas of KP during the morning and night hours.

Cold and dry weather expected in most areas of the country while very cold in upper areas.

The lowest minimum temperature recorded in the country this morning was minus 18 Celsius degree in Skardu.

-11 Celsius degree in Bagrote, minus 9°C in Gupis, minus 8°C in Astore and minus 07°C in Kalat.

Whereas, -05°C in Parachinar, -04°C in Hunza, Gilgit and Bannu, and -03°C in Kalam, Rawalakot, Chakwal, Quetta and Malam Jabba.

Country grips cold weather as temperature drops down -21°C in Skardu

Skardu remained the coldest place in Pakistan with record minus 21°C, according to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Dense fog gripped Islamabad, plain areas of Punjab, upper Sindh and in a few districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Weather remained cold and dry elsewhere in the country while very cold in upper areas, the met office report said.

In Punjab dense fog made the driving very difficult as several sections of the motorway closed for traffic due to poor visibility.
