Flooding damages more than 2000 homes in SW China

More than 2,000 homes were damaged by the latest floodwaters, forcing the evacuation of 147,000 people in Southwestern and Central China.

According to reports in Jiangxi, more than 151,000 people were evacuated, with nearly 2,000 houses damaged.

The seasonal floodwaters first hit the regions of Sichuan and Chongqing in the southwest and Hubei in central China in last month June, that displaced hundreds of thousands of people and damaging houses.

This unusual heavy floods have presented an additional challenge to many in areas already struggling with lost income and jobs caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic.

China has not reported any of the coronavirus cases in past few days. The tally of the positive cases of the country stands, at 83,585 with 4,634 deaths.
