The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy showers in parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), and Balochistan on July 5-6. The heavy rainfall poses a risk of urban flooding in low-lying areas of these provinces.
The Met Office has specifically identified areas such as Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Attock, Kohat, Peshawar, Bannu, Kark, DI Khan, Kasur, Okara, Kohlu, Sibbi, Barkhan, Zhob, and Musakhel as prone to urban flooding, while landslide risks are expected in hilly areas.
Moist currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are impacting the upper and central parts of the country, along with the influence of a westerly wave. Furthermore, rain accompanied by thundershowers is expected in Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan (GB), KP, Islamabad, Pothohar region, upper and central Punjab, and Northeast Balochistan today.
