Continuing until May 27, a heatwave is anticipated in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and many regions across Pakistan, as forecasted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The prevailing weather pattern includes continental air dominance over most areas of the country, with upper atmospheric high pressure expected to persist throughout the week.

These conditions will sustain the heatwave in the twin cities and numerous other parts of Pakistan for the duration of the week, with gusty winds likely to raise dust in the afternoons. Daytime temperatures are projected to remain 06 to 08°C above average in Punjab and Sindh, and 04 to 06°C above average elsewhere in the nation.

In Islamabad, maximum temperatures are forecasted to range between 40-42°C on Friday and 39-41°C on Saturday, while in Rawalpindi, maximum temperatures are expected to hover between 39-41°C on Friday and 40-42°C on Saturday.

During the preceding 24 hours, hot and arid conditions persisted in the twin cities and across most parts of the country. Mohenjo-Daro, Dadu, and Jacobabad experienced the highest temperatures nationwide, reaching a maximum of 50°C. Other regions experienced similarly scorching temperatures, with readings hitting 49°C in Rohri and Khairpur, and 48°C in various cities including Sibbi, Larkana, and Sukkur.
