According to fresh camera footage, multiple armed police officers arrived at Robb Elementary School within 19 minutes of when a gunman started fire, killing 19 students and two teachers.

Despite this, Uvalde, Texas police officers did not enter the adjoining classrooms where the shooter had been for nearly an hour. According to the state’s public safety chief, who termed the reaction a “abject failure,” they also didn’t check to see if either classroom door was secured.

According to the CCTV tape, none of the police attempted to open the classroom doors before receiving the keys. The Austin American-Statesman and KVUE-TV reported on the shocking new revelations, which were presented before a public hearing in Austin, Texas on Tuesday.

The time between when the 18-year-old gunman entered the school and when police fatally shot him was 77 minutes, according to the reports.

A police officer claimed that police had a ‘hooligan’ crowbar they could use to smash down the classroom door eight minutes after the gunman entered the premises. Police received their first ballistic shield about 19 minutes after the gunman entered the school.

Officers had more than enough manpower and protection to take down the gunman long before they shot him, according to newly released information.

Salvador Ramos, the gunman, entered the school at 11:33 a.m. local time. Eleven police officers arrived at the school in less than three minutes. By 11.52 a.m., a police officer with a ballistic shield had arrived at the school.

At 12:50 p.m., police entered the classroom. A member of the US Border Patrol Tactical Unit shot and killed the gunman.

Peter Arredondo, the school district’s police chief, had stated that officers only had “pistols” when the gunman entered the building and that they had held off on capturing him because they lacked sufficient protective gear.

Arredondo also allegedly told officers that the situation had shifted from an active shooter to a barricaded individual, leading him to assume that the situation was not as critical as it actually was.

He not only had the incorrect information, but he also did not have a radio, which added to the confusion among officials throughout the episode.

Several inquiries concerning the tragedy have focused on the police’s slow response time.

Parents of the shooting victims and other residents of the Uvalde community demanded Arredondo’s resignation at a school board meeting on Monday.

Brett Cross, the uncle of student Uziyah Garcia, who died in the incident, stated, “Having Pete remain employed, knowing he is incapable of decision-making that saves lives is worrisome.” ‘Innocence does not hide, innocence does not change its story, but innocence did die on May 24,’ says the author.

Several attendees at Monday’s meeting held posters outside the school’s auditorium that read, “Fire Pete Arredondo.”

‘Not a single responding officer ever hesitated, even for a moment, to put themselves in danger to save the children,’ Arredondo told the Texas Tribune earlier this month.
