Prime Minister Mario Draghi said Italy would continue to back Ukraine in its conflict with Russia, ignoring calls from one of his coalition partners to restrict weaponry deliveries to Kyiv.

Draghi told parliament that Russia, which invaded Ukraine in February, ought to be pressured to halt warring and seek dialogue.

“Only a peace that is mutually agreed upon and not imposed can persist,” he added, adding that EU sanctions against Russia were beginning to bite.
