Shamima Begum is terrified for her life after learning that she could face execution if she is found guilty of terror charges.

According to sources, the 22-year-old Londoner would most certainly face charges as a result of her ties to ISIS.

She is accused of assisting the terror group in the manufacture of suicide bomb vests.

Begum is currently residing in a refugee camp in Rojava, Syria, having losing her British citizenship in 2019.

Last year, she attempted to reclaim her British citizenship at the Supreme Court, but she was unsuccessful.

The legislation allows for someone’s citizenship to be taken away if it is in the public interest.

Rojava, where Begum lives, is a self-governing region that is not under Syrian sovereignty.

Begum is yearning to return to the United Kingdom due to her concerns about the criminal justice system in Rojava.

‘Begum has convinced herself that if she is tried and found guilty of terrorism offences in Syria, she would pay the ultimate sentence,’ a source said.

“She appears to be terrified and apprehensive.”

‘She’s been told she’ll face charges in Rojava, most likely as part of a group of women accused of terrorist acts.’

‘She hasn’t been given a specific date yet, but it is expected to be in September or October.’

‘The authorities in Rojava oppose the death penalty, but this hasn’t persuaded her that she won’t face it.

‘And even if she does, she’ll be sentenced to life in prison.’

Because Begum lacks British citizenship, the British government will be unable to intercede or make diplomatic representations on her behalf.

Begum had been speaking with her relatives in London, according to the source, and they were seeking legal assistance.

However, it is uncertain if a lawyer from the United Kingdom would be permitted to represent Begum in a Rojava court.
