Indian passenger plane goes missing in Lahore

The cabin of an Indian domestic flight that was headed for the central city of Jabalpur; quickly filled with smoke, prompting an emergency landing in New Delhi, according to the airline. Once the aircraft reached the airport in Delhi, passengers on board the flight; which was operated by the commercial airline SpiceJet; were safely evacuated.
The crew discovered smoke in the cabin “when reaching 5,000 feet;” the airline wrote on Twitter. After the event, a video that claimed to depict the smoke-filled cabin; soon became popular on social media.
SpiceJet, a no-frills airline, has made headlines recently when another flight; had to make an emergency landing last month after its left engine caught fire; and aviation regulators have been harsh in their criticism of the firm; for its subpar training procedures.
The airline did not provide information regarding the number of passengers on board, the flight on Saturday; only that it had “safely” landed and that alternate transportation; had been “quickly provided” for customers.

In June, an engine fire forced a SpiceJet flight with 185 passengers headed for New Delhi; to make an emergency landing in the eastern Indian city of Patna. In May, the low-cost airline cancelled or delayed flights; as a result of a “attempted ransomware assault;” leaving hundreds of customers stranded inside their aircraft.
The airline was fined one million Indian rupees (about $12,830) by Indian aviation; regulators for instructing its Boeing 737 MAX pilots on a subpar simulator.
