Senegal’s President Macky Sall nominates Amadou Ba PM
President Macky Sall appointed Amadou Ba, a former minister of foreign affairs, to the position of Prime Minister, According to a statement released by the Senegalese presidency on Saturday.
The nomination brought back the position of prime minister, which had been done away with in April 2019, after a tense legislative election in July, in which Sall’s ruling party lost its large majority in parliament.

Since 2012, Ba, a statesman who is 61 years old, has served in multiple capacities within the governments led by Macky Sall.
Between the years 2013 and 2019, he served as the Minister of Economy and Finance, and between 2019 and late-2020, he was the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
