Idaho murders: Police chief supports the inquiry into the quadruple teen killing
As more than a month has elapsed since the killings with no suspects, the department has come under fire and growing frustration.
James Fry, the chief of the Moscow Police Department, defended his agency’s investigation into the murders of four University of Idaho students in their nearby house on November 13 on Tuesday.
Although officials have maintained that the attack against Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Kaylee Goncalves, and Madison Mogen was a “isolated, targeted” incident, the department has come under fire and been criticised for being impatient as more than a month has passed since the killings without any suspects or persons of interest.
“In this examination, there have been various concerns concerning leadership. To be clear, I am the Chief of Police and this is an inquiry being conducted by the Moscow Police Department “Fry stated in a statement on Tuesday. “I alone am responsible for making the choices. I choose who leads the investigative teams and have an excellent Command Staff that oversees daily operations and has over 90 years of total expertise.”
He went on: “The FBI and the Idaho State Police both have highly skilled and experienced professionals working for us. Their ongoing expertise and resources are essential to our success. Our investigating units have the independence to proceed with this case’s resolution while operating under a single organisational framework. Despite comments made about my team, we are still committed to finding out what happened to the four students who were killed so that they, their families, and our community can receive justice.”
