Oldham woman dies after being crushed by police vehicle
Oldham woman was slain when a police cruiser that was pursuing a vehicle that may have been stolen collided with her and killed her.
Before the police car crashed, officers were called to Shaw Road in Royton, Oldham, according to Greater Manchester Police (GMP).
After being rushed to the hospital with severe wounds, the 53-year-old passed away shortly after.
The Professional Standards Branch and the Independent Office for Police Conduct have been notified about the incident by GMP.
Ch Supt Chris Bowen said: “Our sincere thoughts and condolences go to the family and friends of the woman that has sadly passed.
“We understand that the public are concerned by incidents of this nature.”
He added: “Investigations like this often result in road closures which can cause significant disruption and we thank the local community and road users for their patience.”
The police have requested that anyone who may have information or dashcam footage get in touch with them.
