A lady was stabbed to death and another sustained serious injuries in a Toronto subway station on Thursday. As a result of the incident, a man was detained.

Just after 2 p.m., according to Toronto police, emergency crews were contacted. to High Park Station, which is close to Bloor Street West and High Park Avenue.

According to police, they were called to the eastbound platform after hearing claims that someone had attacked and perhaps stabbed many persons.

According to the police, two victims with stab wounds have been found and taken to the hospital.

According to paramedics, one of the patients is in critical condition, while the other is in serious condition. Medics also confirmed that both victims were female.

The police later reported that one victim had died and the other had sustained significant but not life-threatening injuries.

Police have assured the public that they are safe and have closed High Park Station for the time being to conduct an investigation.

In a statement, the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) said its thoughts are “with the victims and their families, friends and loved ones at this difficult time.”

“TTC CEO Rick Leary spoke to Toronto Police Chief James Ramer this afternoon and, as always, offered our full support as his officers investigate,” the statement read.

The TTC said the safety of its customers and employees is “paramount to all the TTC does.”

“At this time, the TTC doesn’t have specifics about this incident and TPS continues to investigate,” the statement read.

The TTC said additional special constables and uniformed staff will be placed in the system to “reassure customers travelling this afternoon.”

In a statement, Toronto Mayor John Tory said he was “shocked to hear” about the fatal stabbing.

“We can never accept acts of violence of this kind happening anywhere in our city,” he said. “My thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who has lost her life. We hope for the quick recovery of another woman who is in hospital with injuries.”

Tory said the transit system should “always be a safe place for everyone at all times.”

“We will simply have to sit down again with the TTC and police officials to see what more we can do to ensure the safety of TTC passengers beyond the many measures the TTC has put in place,” Tory continued.
