Russia says it will send musicians to the front lines of its war in Ukraine to boost morale.

This week, the defence ministry announced that a “front-line creative brigade” would be made up of both singers and musicians.

In an intelligence update on Sunday, the UK’s Ministry of Defense talked about the creation of the brigade.

The government said that Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited troops on the front lines in Ukraine.

In a statement posted to Telegram, the Defense Ministry said that Mr. Shoigu “flew around the areas where troops were deployed and checked the advanced positions of Russian units in the area of the special military operation.”

The visit is said to be happening at the same time that UK defence officials said that low morale is still a “significant vulnerability across much of the Russian force.”

The UK said that the new creative brigade, which comes after a recent campaign to get people to give musical instruments to troops, is in line with how “military music and organised entertainment” have always been used to boost morale.

But they questioned whether the new brigade would actually take troops’ attention away from “very high casualty rates, poor leadership, pay problems, a lack of equipment and ammunition, and a lack of clarity about the war’s goals.”

RBC news in Russia says that the brigade will be made up of troops recruited through President Vladimir Putin’s campaign and “professional artists who volunteered for military service.”

The defence ministry told the outlet that the new unit’s job will be to keep the people involved in the special military operation “in a high moral, political, and psychological state.”

The Ukraine’s general staff said that fighting was still very bad around the town of Bakhmut in the eastern Donbas region on Saturday.
Since the beginning of the year, Russia has lost a lot of territory in eastern Ukraine. As a result, Russian and Ukrainian troops have been fighting hard in this area for months.

Western intelligence officials have said in the past that the private military contractor Wagner Group is in charge of the Russian attacks on the town.

Moscow wants to use the town as a base to attack the Ukrainian cities of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, which are still in Ukrainian hands.

Also, heating has been turned back on in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. This comes after Russia launched a large-scale attack on power and water infrastructure on Friday.

Moscow fired off 76 missiles on Friday, which hit nine power stations and turned off power to most of the country. Ukraine said that it had caught 60.
