- The head of the security service at the Iranian embassy in Baku has been killed.
- Two security guards were injured while preventing the attacker from reaching the embassy.
- The treacherous attack is currently the subject of an enquiry.
“On January 27, around 8:30 am Baku time, there was an armed attack on the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement.
“The attacker destroyed the guard post with a Kalashnikov automatic weapon and killed the head of the security service. Two security guards of the embassy were also injured while preventing the attack. Their condition is satisfactory.
The treacherous attack is currently the subject of an enquiry.
The public would be given access to further details about the case, the ministry noted.
