A British Army soldier who is now serving in the field has appeared in court on charges related to a bomb hoax at an RAF installation and other terrorism-related offences.

Stafford resident Daniel Abed Khalife was charged on Friday and is currently being held without bail.

On Saturday, proceedings were postponed at the prosecutor’s request because one of the allegations against Pte. Khalife, 21, requires the approval of the Attorney General.

Next Friday, he will make another appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

According to the allegations, the offences happened earlier this month and in August 2021.

Three canisters with wires were left in the base on January 2, leading Pte Khalife, who lives and works there, to be charged with a bomb hoax.

He is also accused of gathering details about a different service member that could be used to plan an act of terrorism.

Pte Khalife showed up in person and was dressed in a grey sweater and blue jeans for the hearing.
